7 Million Jigawatts is in the running to open for Bon Jovi!

One band. One Night. One great chance to be the opening act for the Bon Jovi “Circle World Tour” Concert at the Palace of Auburn Hills.

Fans can vote once an hour between now and February 18th, so keep on voting. 7 Million Jigawatts is listed under the “S” category on the second page…. So don’t give up when you’re looking to vote for 7MJ!

Five bands that receive the most votes will get to play on the Fox 2 Morning Show. The performances will be posted on MyFoxDetroit.com for another voting period. The band that gets the most votes will play a 15 minute set on the main stage at the Palace during the March 17th Bon Jovi concert.

Alpena musicians return home for Guitar Summit

Musically, former area residents Nathan Montgomery and Melissa Behring got a solid start during their days as students at Alpena High School.

After graduation, both went onto to study music at the college level and to embark on careers that have allowed them to make money and make music.

This Saturday marks a homecoming for the two when they and their fellow 7 Million Jigawatts band mates perform for the Thunder Bay Arts Council-sponsored Guitar Summit VI. The event takes place at 7:30 p.m. in the Alpena High School Auditorium, with their band signed on as the headliner.

“I feel really lucky to be coming back,” said Behring, the front woman for this rock band that is well-known in the Detroit area and beyond. “There were good people there who supported me when I was younger and encouraged me to keep chasing it.” (more…)

November 19 – 7 Million Jigawatts CD Release – Here’s a first, take a small art gallery, fill it with people, serve drinks and sushi, and toss in a rock band for good measure. Excellently presented in Kaiser Suidan’s Next Step Studios Gallery in Ferndale, the intimate space worked well for 7 Million Jigawatts’ Taking Flight CD Release. 7MJ gave us a boisterous combo of rock and soul including tunes from the new CD. Check them out if you haven’t already.

Studio rock: Bringing music and art together is the focus at “Fine Art Meets Rock ‘n’ Soul,” set for tonight at Next Step Studios in Ferndale.

The event features a performance from femme-fronted rockers 7 Million Jigawatts, who are celebrating the release of “Taking Flight,” plus a performance and live painting by artist-musician Marcus Worx and art on display by Graceann Warn and Kaiser Suidan.

Coming off their recently successful Pinktober National Kick Off party for the Hard Rock Café, the band is proud to introduce their new CD ‘Taking Flight.’ This new album features the single, “(I’ve Got You) Covered” from the 2010 Mustang advertising campaign. This new album of originals offers up an enticing mix of rock and soul that tantalizes you auditory senses. For visual stimulation look no further than your surroundings. Inside the Next Step Art studio there’s a wonderland of art from a number of talented artists. This event will be catered by Little Tree and sponsored by Glaceau, Detroit’s own Valentine Vodka and B. Nektar Meadery. Next Step Studios is located in fabulous Ferndale and is a hidden gem that is filled with amazing art.

Detroit MI – Hard Rock Café presents the Pinktober Kick Off party for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Featuring 7 Million Jigawatts wsg/ Michael Seger & Everyone’s Favorite Band. This is a free all ages event! Doors are at 7pm.

To celebrate their 10-year anniversary of the Pinktober Breast Cancer Awareness campaign, Hard Rock Cafes and Hotels everywhere are hosting Pinktober parties and live music events. They are raising awareness and money for local, national, and international charities, such as the Breast Cancer Research Foundation and The Caron Keiting Foundation. Plus a portion of Pinktober apparel and accessories sales go directly to breast cancer research.

Several local businesses have been generous enough to donate items to be raffled off and all proceeds will be donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation and Karmanos Cancer Centers.

  • Dearborn Music has donated 6 stock promo posters featuring: Daughtry, the Fray, Dave Matthews Band, the Von Bondies, Springsteen, and a Motown Review Poster.
  • Showtime Detroit has donated guitar cables, a tambourine, and two pink ladies corsets.
  • Upstares Salon in Royal Oak has donated a gift certificate for a new hair do.
  • Julie Hecker from PUNK FITNESS Detroit is also offering a few certificates to her classes.
  • Revitalize Day Spa in Birmingham is offering one 90 minute massage and 100 mini facial/massages.
  • And for the grand prize Dream Town Media which is the brainchild of Melissa Behring (lead singer of 7 Million Jigawatts) will be raffling off one custom artwork Fender Guitar.
  • Raffle tickets will be $5 each or 5 for $20.

    7 Million Jigawatts will be headlining this special event. Their unique style of music is infused with rock and soul and the talent of this band has caught the attention of Ford Motor Company.
