To celebrate their 10-year anniversary of the Pinktober Breast Cancer Awareness campaign, Hard Rock Cafes and Hotels everywhere are hosting Pinktober parties and live music events. They are raising awareness and money for local, national, and international charities, such as the Breast Cancer Research Foundation and The Caron Keiting Foundation. Plus a portion of Pinktober apparel and accessories sales go directly to breast cancer research.
Several local businesses have been generous enough to donate items to be raffled off and all proceeds will be donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation and Karmanos Cancer Centers.
Raffle tickets will be $5 each or 5 for $20.
7 Million Jigawatts will be headlining this special event. Their unique style of music is infused with rock and soul and the talent of this band has caught the attention of Ford Motor Company. Their song, “I’ve Got You Covered,” is featured on the interior 360 view of the 2010 Mustang on www.the2010mustang.com. They will be playing original songs that are due to come out on their upcoming CD release as well as a mix of covers. This is a band that is also very involved in the community. This year they have taken time out of their busy schedules to help raise awareness and money for breast cancer. This will be their third event this year for the cause.
Also bringing their talent to the stage for this special evening will be Michael Seger & Everyone’s Favorite Band. They are a Detroit – based group made up of 5 talented musicians. They are teachers, students, writers, and artists. The band has taken Michael Seger’s acoustic style songs and added drums, bass, electric guitar, synthesizer, and four-part vocal harmonies fusing epic drum beats with captivating melodies.

The Dog Fight
Thursday, September 3rd, 2009We are so proud to be included in the Red Dog family. There was an amazing turn out all day on Saturday for their Dog Fight against Cancer. They really do work their tails off to support the people in the surrounding community. We had a great time watching folks get dunked. Chelsea created some amazing henna tattoos. A hearty thank you to Jake for donating the 7MJ PA and his entire day to run sound for all the bands. You can see all the pictures on the Red Dog Saloon Facebook Fan Page.

Our friend, Richard Blondy, from Direct from Detroit Music came out to a recent 7 Million Jigawatts show and caught some wonderful shots of the band. He set the stellar images to our latest original release, “The Way Down”. Can’t thank him enough for sharing his talents with us and all the support he’s given our group.
Dog Fight Against Cancer
Wednesday, August 26th, 20097 Million Jigawatts to perform their unique blend of rock and soul music this Saturday at an all ages fundraiser at The Red Dog Saloon to benefit a local Commerce Twp Family.
The Red Dog is a close knit family that 7MJ is proud to be a part of. One of the owners has recently been diagnosed with Lung Cancer. Instead of focusing on her own battle, the Red Dog family is extending a helping hand to a family in the community who is also going through a tough battle with the disease and has had a very unfortunate past year.
A 38 year old mother of two from Commerce has recently been diagnosed with Breast Cancer. She had it in the past, but it has returned premature of the seven year remission mark. She can no longer work due to her disease. To add to their troubles, the father was recently laid off of work, leaving them without medical insurance.
The Red Dog Saloon is pulling the community together to make a difference. In this day and age, it seems everyone knows someone who is suffering from this incurable disease. We would like to see our kindness in action by helping a local family make it through this horrible battle and not have to do it alone.
The event will go from 12noon until 9pm outside, and continue on until 2am inside. To kick-off the festivities, we will be hosting bands in the Red Dog Saloon parking lot all day.
Performers include:
Along with live music, the Red Dog is hosting other activities to help generate money for the family. There will be a Dunk Tank in the lot, and for $2/ball, attendees can take their chances at dunking some of the Red Dog staff, our owner, as well as other prominent individuals from the community. Along with the Dunk Tank, we will also have a Casino Tent, featuring a Poker Tournament, cash games, and Black Jack. There will be FREE ASTROLOGY READINGS. CJ Roberts Salon and Day Spa from Hartland will be on hand offering Henna Tattoos as well as doing free fitings for wigs for Chemo-patients.
All proceeds will be going directly to the family in need.
7MJ & the Motor City Rah Rah’s Dream Cruisin’
Sunday, August 16th, 2009Much love to the Armstrong’s who hosted an amazing Dream Cruise party. The crowd cruised in their classic 1975 Corvettte’s, old Model A Ford’s and classic Dodge R/T’s. They stuffed themselves with Chicken Shack and drained the keg before the sun went down. 7MJ performed an evening infused with rock n soul music. The Motor City Rah Rah’s stopped by to get the party rolling. Vivian George, local singer songwriter and Julie Hecker from Punk Fitness Detroit, danced with the band and had the hosts on their toes.
Childhelp.org Fundraiser
Sunday, July 19th, 2009Yesterday 7MJ performed outside of Joe’s Headquarters in Farmington. Set up ‘Grand Ole Opry’ style, the group crowded around an old mic and played for a few hours. The band helped Jackie P raise money for her preferred charity at the Founder’s Day Festival. Jackie P set up under a tent and hair for a minimum $10 donation to Childhelp.org. So far this weekend, she’s raised around $1500 and there’s still one more day to go!
There was a brief moment of breakdancing mania just before the 7MJ boys got their stylish new hair cuts. Jon Vidal lost his lovely locks for a more stylish shorter trim. There will be pictures of it on the 7 Million Jigawatts Facebook Fan Page.
