7 Million Jigawatts Detroit Rock n Soul

7 Million Jigawatts unique style of rock and soul infusion will have you on your feet moving. Performing hit songs you know and love along side originals penned by members of the group, they are a treat for the senses. Their unique style of music and the talent of this band has caught the attention of Ford Motor Company. Their song, “I’ve Got You Covered,” is featured on the interior 360 view of the 2010 Mustang on www.the2010mustang.com.

This band is also very involved in the community. Every year, they take time out of their busy schedules to help raise awareness and money for breast cancer. This year they were chosen to kick off the Hard Rock Café’s Pinktober Breast Cancer Awareness Month national campaign in Detroit.

The four diverse members forge a unique blend of Rock and Soul unique to Detroit and 7 Million Jigawatts including but not limited to the influence of Janis Joplin, Stevie Wonder, Led Zeppelin, Aretha Franklin and Elliott Smith.

Established in 2003 7 Million Jigawatts peforms over 100 shows annually satisfying clients and patrons all over the Midwest.

Melissa Behring on Vocals and Percussion

Melissa Behring started singing in the church at 4. She received her bachelors degree from Central Michigan University in Voice Performance and is currently pursuing her masters at Berklee School of Music. She has been performing both pop/rock and jazz music across the midwest since relocating to Detroit in 1998.

Jake Tobias on Guitar, Bass, Keys, Vocals

Jake Tobias began playing guitar at age 9, and was teaching in the local music store by the time he was 14. As a 17 year-old high school student, local bands were sneaking this minor into Detroit clubs to perform with local rock and pop bands. In addition to degrees in Music and Engineering from University of Michigan, Jake’s eclectic career has seen him on stage with many Detroit and national acts, including The Contours and The Marvellettes. He is also known as a writer, studio engineer, guitar teacher and producer.

Nathan Montgomery on Guitar, Bass, Keys and Vocals

Nathan Montgomery started playing guitar with the inspiration and guidance from his Dad at the age of 9. He received his bachelors in Jazz Performance from Wayne State University. He now influences talents of rising stars as the Music Director for the Arts Academy in the Woods. Nathan has performed for Taylor Guitar clinics, opened for the likes of John Fogerty and Brian Vander Ark.

Jon Vidal on Drums and Vocals

Jon Vidal has been drumming since he was 10, and playing guitar since 14. He is a very talented songwriter penning hits for 7MJ like ‘The Way Down’. He knew he’d make music for the rest of his life after hearing his first Beatles song on the radio. His musical education has included stops at the Recording Institute of Detroit, Wayne State, and Berklee College of Music.
