7 Million Jigawatts Detroit Rock n Soul
7 Million Jigawatts unique style of pop, rock and soul infusion gets audiences on their feet dancing. 7MJ performs a wide variety of hits from the past six decades along side 7MJ penned original songs. Covering artists like Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Pat Benatar, Lynyrd Skynyrd, & Kid Rock, they caught the attention of Ford Motor Company. Their original, “I’ve Got You Covered,” was featured in the 2010 Mustang advertising campaign.
7MJ is also very involved in the community. Every year, they take time to help raise awareness and money for breast cancer. In 2009, they were selected to kick off the Hard Rock Café’s Pinktober Breast Cancer Awareness Month national campaign in Detroit. They were the headline performers at the True North Radio Network June Summer Concert Series and the Taste of Clarkston in 2010.
The five diverse members forge a fantastic blend of Rock and Soul music that includes the influence of southern rock, indie, dance, rhythm and blues, funk and pop.

Melissa Behring on Vocals, Guitar and Percussion
Melissa Behring started singing in the church at 4. She received her bachelors degree from Central Michigan University in Voice Performance and is currently pursuing her masters at Berklee School of Music. She has appeared on ABC Channel 7 Morning News and opened for The Orbitsuns. She has been performing both pop/rock and jazz music across the midwest since relocating to Detroit in 1998.
Jake Tobias on Guitar, Bass, Keys, Vocals
Jake Tobias began playing guitar at age 9, and was teaching in the local music store by the time he was 14. As a 17 year-old high school student, local bands were sneaking this minor into Detroit clubs to perform with the local bands. In addition to degrees in Music and Engineering from University of Michigan, Jake’s eclectic career has seen him on stage with many Detroit and national acts, including The Contours, Martha Reeves and Lesli Gore.
Scott Vernier Keyboards and Vocals
Gettin’ funky on the keys for quite some time, this mostly self taught player has been seen on stage opening for Gretchen Wilson and Tower of Power. Scott Vernier has appeared on the Fox2 Morning Show and played with Dal Bouey and The Dream. He’s studied voice with Ray Taylor (Tony Bennet, Judy Garland).
